Tonight, the U.S. Senate is expected to vote on legislation — H.R. 674 — that would repeal the 3 percent tax withholding on public contracts.
As your senators prepare to vote on this ASA-priority legislation, they need to hear from YOU. Tell them to vote YES on H.R. 674 and repeal the 3 percent tax withholding requirement.
The 3 percent withholding requirement mandates that federal, state and local governments with $100 million or more in outlays withhold, upfront, 3 percent from payments of $10,000+ for goods and services. The withholding requirement is scheduled to go into effect on Jan. 1, 2013.
On Oct. 27, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to repeal the 3 percent tax withholding requirement on public contracts by a vote of 405-16 (yeas-nays). If the U.S. Senate passes this legislation, President Obama is expected to sign it.
Thank you for acting now to ensure this burdensome law is repealed.
